SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA

When living in California, Alec and I took every opportunity to travel especially to San Diego since it was only a 2 and a half hour drive. Check out all of our recommendations when visiting this beautiful beach city.

STAYS

  • Hotel republic- French bistro inspired modern hotel in the heart of the city with incredible staff and great skyline views. 

FOOD

  • Puesto- authentic Mexican food restaurant with unique cocktails and vibrant decor makes for the perfect HH or dinner spot. 

  • Great Maple- incredible brunch spot with the best bacon in the world but be sure to make a reservation in advance because this place is always busy!

  • Layover- rooftop bar + restaurant located inside the InterContinental hotel by the pool.

  • Farmer’s Table- neighborhood style eatery that gives all of the southern charm and hospitality located inside Little Italy in SD. 

  • Salt & Straw- the best ice cream ever with tons of unique flavors to choose from!

  • Harley Gray- farmer house style brunch spot that offers bottomless mimosas for only $10!

  • Daniel’s Coffee- the popular coffee shop in the Spanish Village Art Center.

  • C Level Lounge- romantic restaurant perfect for dinner during sunset overlooking the water with an incredible view of the skyline in the background. 

  • The Henry- huge menu with a very nautical, modern restaurant vibe perfect for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.  

  • Coronado Brewing Co.- cool brewery that gives that beachy, surfer aesthetic

  • Donut Bar- modern donut shop that has all the classics + featured items based on the seasons. 

  • Cove House- the cutest spot overlooking La Jolla beach with a great brunch menu + a bucket of bubbles!

DRINKS

  • Seneca- speakeasy style rooftop bar that gives a very colorful, retro, romantic ambiance. â€‹

  • Beach Shack- the perfect hut on the beach with the fruitiest, freshest drinks.

  • Topside Terrace Kitchen + Bar- rooftop bar at the Intercontinental hotel with great views of the marina. 

ACTIVITIES

  • Spanish Village Art Center- beautiful square with colored bricks and plenty of unique shops. â€‹

  • San Diego Zoo- hands down the best zoo with the coolest aerial tram that takes you over the entire zoo.

  • Balboa park- great park across from the marina with tons of restaurants + shopping options to choose from. 

  • Coronado island- prettiest island off of the city of San Diego known for its views, food, and beaches. 

  • Kissing Statue- infamous statue right by the USS Midway Museum. 

  • La Jolla Cove- another popular area in San Diego where the seals live on the beach and there are tons of great water activities around this area. 

  • Little Italy- a great area to visit for food, drinks, desserts, shopping, and more! 

  • USS Midway Museum- one of the most popular aircraft carrier museums with tons of hands-on experiences and attractions throughout.
